Thanks Al...

Good match! It started chilly but got really nice by noon.

Comments...

Hutch has won more Harrison matches than anybody by a big margin.

I found that you can't not shoot since last September and expect to do well.

Steve Robbins dropped out after one relay. He had a brass problem... as in he forgot most of his brass.

Jeff Aberegg shot well after complaining about doing poorly lately.

Brian Albee, who only shoots in Harrison, was tough as usual. It was between him and Hutch and Gage right up till the last shot.

The weather was great. The turn-out was less than expected... the price of fuel???? Most of our shooters come quite a distance.

The food at McFarland's Tavern was excellent as usual. Thanks, Mike!

We have a score match in three weeks on 31 May.

Harrison Turnout

I didn't think the turnout was to bad for the first shoot of the year. We had 18 enthusiastic participants. I did notice a couple new economy cars in the parking area and there was some car pooling also noted.
Couldn't beat the weather and the range was in excellent condition. We look forward to seeing everyone for our score match on May 31st.
Good Luck to those that are traveling to the "Super Shoot"...

Best part was...

we had two new competitors. Both had Savage factory guns in .223. Both want to compete and seem willing to do what it takes to learn.

Dick, Looks Like..........................

I'm gonna have to grab the .223 and drag the weasel (Steve) with me to the next match.:D

New Shooters

I especially enjoyed watching the two new guys locating themselves to watch the other shooters and there "Techniques" and then asking questions between relays. They got an overload of information to sort through.
They will definitely be back...

The best thiing about our matches...

has always been that we make it easy for new shooters to come and shoot. They can bring their factory rifles and shoot against like competition. We welcome them, encourage them and answer their questions.

In contrast, the two major benchrest organizations do little to encourage new shooters. They may pay lip service to the concept but that's as far as it goes.

FWIW one of the new shooters has been over here for "Father Wright's Working-Up-a-Load and Watching-Wind-Flags School" and the other one is coming over as soon as I get back from the Super Shoot. Over the years there been many, many guys that have done that. Unfortunately, most of them end up beating me after a few years. Kinda makes me melancholy.:(

I understand that the NBRSA has a committee to study ways to get new shooters. If they were smart they would talk to us...
