Harrington & Richardson Ultra 360 problem.

I recently acquired a Harrington & Richardson Ultra 360 semiautomatic rifle in 308 Win. These were made back in the late '60's and early '70's. With both action screws removed the barreled action will only lift up about 1/2" on either end. At that point something is binding or holding the action and preventing my removeing it completely for a thorough check and cleaning. Cannot find assembly/disassembly instructions anywhere and I've been looking for a month now. It's scarce or nonexistent. I found a parts diagram but see nothing in it that would cause this problem. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Check the safety to ensure it is not pushed all the way to fire or safe mode..put it half way..

As often happens with things that appear perplexing, the solution is often quite simple. Just try something different from what your doing. I pulled the bolt back, pushed up on it's locking latch to hold it back and wallah ! out she came. Pulling the bolt back also pulls back the entire action rod assembly, which rides under the barrel, in it's own semi cylindrical space. The interior of the forestock is designed to partially support the underside of the barrel to a point just forward the rcvr. When the action rod assembly is withdrawn to a point past where the interior of the stock supports the underside of the barrel the entire mechanism lifts right out. All's well that ends well. Now we're all more knowledgeable.
