I recently acquired an H&R mod 700, 22 mag, semi auto in quite good condition. One problem. I cannot figure out how to keep the bolt back/open so I can run a cleaning patch down through the bore. The bolt moves back and forth cleanly but will not lock in the open position. There's a circular opening in the side of the rcvr which is the same size as the bolt/slide handle which looks like it should accept the circular handle on the bolt and lock the bolt in the rearward position so that the action remains open just behind the bbl. As it is now with the bolt in the closed or fireing position I'll be pushing a cleaning patch on the end of a cleaning rod into the bolt face whenever I try to clean the bbl. Is anyone here familiar with this rifle. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.
