Harrell's compact presses???

I have been looking for a press a little more precise than my rcbs. I ran across the Harrell's compact presses for 160 bills. I have seen these presses at a fellas house one time but i didnt get to mess around with it any. If i go with one of these presses i will go with the 308 size presses. I am looking for some general info and personal experience about these presses. can you seat bullets on these as well. in the add, they only mention seating bullets on the bigger press of the three sizes. I would think you could, but like i said just looking for some info. Thanks Lee

I have the combo press from Harrell's and love it. Best of both worlds and plenty of leverage to FL size my 30br and .223 brass. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to size .308's with it.
What you might find, and I am sure there are some posts to follow mine, is that the press does not necessarily contribute all that much to straight brass. Don't get me wrong, it needs to be straight, but I know that Jackie Schmidt uses 3 partner presses (according to what I have read here a number of times) and has very little to no runout. It's all about the dies and their internals. I've read about some guys using very loosely tightened dies to allow some play which "self aligns" the brass as it enters the die. I have an RCBS rock chucker as well, and get no more runout in my FL sizer than my Harrell's.
If you are looking for precision look to your dies.
If you need transportability, Hood, harrell's, RCBS partner, and others will do very well.
Hope this helps,
mike

More precise in what way? One that makes more precise ammunition? Hmm. Jackie Schmidt uses the RCBS Partner press -- well, two or three of them, to be exact. Come to that, so do some others, including me. I paid $35 for mine, new, which shows it's age.

The Harrell does fit more precisely into a shooting box though.
