Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everyone. Thank's for all the Knowlege around here just for the asking.....Franky

Cris, does anyone know how many USFT guns are serious contenders in the 25 yd/meter benchrest field? What is the actual accuracy history outside of the talk out there? By serious contenders I am talking about guns that will agg. twenty five shots in the ones?
Do you have that data or if not can we compile it by asking present competing owners?

From me too. I hope every shooter in the country has a fine Christmas and a great new year!

What you want to find out is going to be near impossible to find out because as far as I know there are no air gun group shoots taking place at this time. Also some one would have to take on the job of compiling all of that info into a data base.

Merry Christmas

Larry Birchfield my friend, you are correct in your assessment of group shooting required to obtain this data however I think the shooters themselves know pretty much what their guns agg.
I did a bit of calculating a bit back to find out how good a gun I would have to have to clean that international target that the grapefruit eating feller in Florida came up with. If my calculator pecking was right you need a .146 agg gun to be able to clean that target inside a controlled environment meaning nothing moving and shooting all tens.
Now we see clean targets being shot by those up state Yankees inside with 15-16 X's and I believe Fla. Steve is in that elete crowd with his 22 he just doesn't want anyone to know, so they HAVE to have guns capable of that degree of accuracy. So that is a couple of guns and yours Larry has to be included in there also making it three. Anyone who has spent time in and understands tubes and buildings knows or should know inside and tube shooting does not necessarily mean you have pristine air....so that is where I believe the 15-16 X;s are coming from insted of 23-24 -25 X's we would expect. It too would be insane to dismiss the pellet accuracy factor and how it may affect the X count because we know it does. The degree of affect yet to be determined untill we get perfect pellets.
My logic is simple you cannot shoot over 50% X's and clean a target with a gun that does not agg in the .140 neighborhood. I was just wondering how many people have a USFT doing that. Better than that I want to know how they did it. It would be wonderful to see a US manufactured gun prevail at the world matches.
We are going to see in a year or so particular manufactured guns that consistantly do well in the hands of great shooters. All shooting sports go through this metamorphosis. Smiths will emerge that can do magic with your favorite iron, barrel makers will duel it out and particular calibers for different distances and conditions will come to light and in the end we will all benefit.............

Merry Xmas to all........and to all a good night
