Hank Vandenbout

Unfortunately, Hank Vandenbout, who shot all sorts of benchrest and rimfire, recently died of a heart attack.
Hank lived in Corpus Christi and several years ago was an active shooter who was popular in several shooting venues around.
He will be missed.

I remember Hank's excellent shooting in the BR 50 (.22 LR) game. He had a 40 X Remington that was pure poison. He will be missed and we are diminished with his passing. James Mock

Curious which of his 40x's you are referring to? I shot his gray Grim Reaper. He had so many good shooting guns back in the day...

Josh, to tell you the truth, I can't remember the color of the rifle, but I believe that it was dark (blue or black?). I do remember that it shot lights out. I will ask my neighbor, Marion Collier, and I am sure he can give a more accurate description. James

Sure is diss-hearting to see so many passing on in the various shooting communities and my prayers go out to the family and friends. Seems all the good one's leave well before the all the bad so I am sure our good Lord has a beautiful place set aside to welcome all of them into their new found and forever peaceful lives.

It was probably the midnight blue stock with the stainless barrel. I want to say that Dad sold that gun and then got it back later on. I'll check next week to see if its still in his safe.

Tell Marion I said Hello! Last time I shot with him, I would have been about 13 yrs old. It was always a nice rivalry with him and the Texas boys. I think one year we either made Hats or t-shirts to jab at him with the effect of Don't Mess with Texas. Pretty sure that was Herb Gibson's idea.
