Hal Drake and Dave Thomas win again

In the hotly contested Maryland State 100-200 championship held this weekend Hal Drake from Virginia and Mark Ludinski from Pennsylvania, both on the same relay duked it out to a pair of potential records. The 100-200 VFS grand agg record being 500-38x and both Gentlemen had range scored 500-39x totals, both could be awarded the record. Hal's 25x score at 100 yards gave him a slight edge over Marks 24x score and made him the match winner by Creedmore.

Meanwhile Dave Thomas came out on top in Varmint Hunter class Winning the 200yd and the Grand. Ina Reese took the 100yd win in the class with a 250-17x beating Dave's 250-17 also by Creedmore

Vince Pastorella won the Hunter Class Grand.

The Match was lightly attended with only 36 shooters braving the weather which was predicted as lots of rain for both days. In reality it it was a very nice weekend with only about 5 minutes of rain during the match either day.

Dick,
The results page shows that Roger Avery shot 500-42X at the South Carolina states......It sounds like three potential records, possibly with two of them already exceeded.

Last year, the North Carolina State match didn't have backers. Ergo, no grand agg.

The schedule on the website reads, "no grand agg". I'm looking forward to hearing from someone that shot the match.

No !
Unfortunately they do not have their backer situation sorted out so officially for IBS purposes there is no grand aggregate. It brings question to my mind if there can even be a State Championship for SSOY purposes, but thats a Score Committee matter and since there are no specified parameters for state championships that I know of. I guess if its called a State Championship its a State Championship.

Henry Rivers phoned me Saturday apparently from the match on how to break a 250-25x tie and I told him officially it is a tie but if the club desires to break the tie solely for purposes of giving out the awards they could break the tie however they saw fit, prettiest rifle , tallest shooter whatever.

It doesn't change anything just because they knew before hand that there weren't backers, it still sucks to shoot a record that will not be recognized for a technicality. Steve

At the VT State Shoot this year a shooter ended up with 2 bullet holes in one bull on a target. He swore, honestly, that it was a cross fire. The backers proved that the shot came from his bench.

Congratulations to the pending record holders!

It looks like we're forgetting the origin of this post............sorry guys...

Congratulations to all of the winners, and especially those who shot at a record level, in whatever state you chose to shoot.
