Had some fun at 50 yards this afternoon

Rick and I shoot alongside the Rimfire BR shooters at Salem every Wed. evening and our 25 meter aggs are frequently higher than some of their 50 yard aggs. After a particularly good evening out with my EV-2 last week one of the RF guys told me we should shoot on the RF target at 50 yards this week...so we took them up on the challenge tonight. Rick and I shot our Open Class Dawsons on the RBA rimfire target which is the exact same size as the WRABF 50m target. Did we beat the powder burners? Not even close, but we had fun trying! Conditions would have been tricky at 25m tonight so we both struggled to get a handle on them at 50y, especially the vertical movement of the pellet. I think we might have even cussed once or twice per target:rolleyes:Our scores were:
Todd- 232-4X, 232-4X, 231-8X= 695-16X
Rick- 220-1X, 227-5X, 230-4X= 677-10X

Jock Elliott, who writes the Airguns of Arizona blog, joined us this evening for one target (had to leave early) with his production class .177 Marauder and shot a great score for his first time out with it, in tricky conditions to boot! 226-2x at 25m.

Hi all . I had fun at 50yd. I had the Dawson seat up well .with 2 - 10 shot strings at 35ft/lb with 18.13 JSB with a ES of 6 fts. At my home range (tree buffered wind )1st 10 shots .220 wide and .490 high , 2nd 10 ( after moving barrel weight ) .280 wide and ,220 high at 50yd. I figured that shooting at Salem wood be harder than my home but was not ready for the big vertical movement of the pellet . When I build my Sumo I hope to seat it up to shoot 25--35 gr pellets at 900 ++ and see what that well do .
