does anybody use h 322 in there ppc,and how good does it shoot?
Would like to stay away from the n 133 if at all possible..

My friend Bill Mellor shoots 322 Extreme, and does very well with it. I don't remember the load, but I do remember that it did not sound particularly hot. Just remember that different powders and peak pressures may dictate different cleaning intervals and methods, as well as seating depth and/or neck tension with a particular bullet.

The barrel I used last year shot better with H322 extreme than N133 until it got above 80 degrees and then it went all to hell. N133 then became more accurate with any charge I put through it.

The barrel I just broke in for this year shot H322 horribly and n133 great even in the freezing cold weather we've been having.

322....

In the last match of the year in St. Louis last year, my father-in-law set a range record at 100 yds with a .16xx agg with H-322 (it happened to also get broken the same day by something like .005 in the agg. Shooting the same powder and load of H-322 I got something like a 2nd, a 5th, and took 7th in the two gun, loading by weight, we never changed load. We each use different bullets.

Over this last weekend, using the same gun/barrel that shot the 322 well last fall, I did well using 133 for the entire weekend, and loading by weight, never changed the entire weekend.

322

so I should take both powders to the range with me when I go.I like the 322 cause I think it is a cleaner powder and I dont need to clean as much less work cleaning means more time to load and gabb.Thats another question I have do you really need to clean after every 10 or so shots this is a lot of work.Maybe I should go with molly and h 322 and not clean the whole match I dont know I'm new to this game and a lot of this just seems like a waist of time.( BUT BOYER IS DOING IT)I here this alot.....

Quit worrying and shoot!

Don't make a powder decision based on anything other than the way it preforms.
If you go go a match and give up anything accurracy related you may of well just went to visit and not shot at all.
There are a few people that have success with moly but most don't. In my BR career this is the 3rd time moly has made the circle but the results have been the same. If your tune is perfect it shoot almost as good as naked bullets with the same amount of time spent tuning.

After reading my post, my friend Bill filled in some more detail in an email.
"Hello Boyd,

I saw your post on BR Central about H-322 extreme. The load I settled on is 28.3 grains using 66 grain bullets. Any more powder than that, the groups started to open up.

I pre-loaded for a two day match at Sacramento using 28.3 grains of H-322 extreme along with 66 grain bullets. The tempature for both days went from the low sixty's in the morning to the high ninety's in the afternoon and this load worked well for both days.

Bill"

I should add that Bill has done well at Sacramento, and is a long time participant in the matches at the Visalia where he does a great job with the match reports as well as being one of the top competitiors in those matches.

h322 is cleaner for sure but as Dave B. says, use the one that shoots the best! If you want to relax and gab between relays, do that too. I'll probably get roasted for saying this, but I think we clean too much. Some of my best groups have come after shooting 40 shots through the barrel. I think cleaning every 15 shots is a waste of time. If my barrel is that finicky, it is getting yanked off and another one is being bought!
