Group sizes

Please excuse my ignorance but could someone explain to me how you measure your group sizes and how your agg's are calculated, some of the agg's that I have seen quoted on the forum are awesome.
I was trying to compare my agg's to some on here and would get smoked in comp, not even warm, here in Australia we shoot at 50mtr's,the group is measured from centre to centre, the 5 groups are added together then multiplied by two, then divided by 5 again to give you a agg in moa at 100mtrs is this the same as you do.

Regards Chris.

I'll probably get shot down here.

But you are correct.

1. A MOA is a minute of angle, that is 1 inch at 100 yards.

2. measuring your groups is. Your measurement is centre to centre from the widest part of your group. Then minus the diameter of the projectile used.
So if your group is 0.6" across at the widest point minus your .223/4 projectile your group is 0.4". If this was shot at 100 yards it would be 0.4 moa. If it was 200 yards it would be 0.2 moa and at 50 0.8 moa.

3. Aggregate is 5 groups added up, times by to to get moa then divided by 5.

Hope this helps

Farmer Rob,measure centre to centre from the two shots that are furtherest apart but dont subtract a projectile diametre from that.It is just that I have seen some quote mid two agg's and if They are worked out the way That we do down here that would be five, five shot groups at around .12 to agg .24-.25,unless I am missing something (definately would not be the first or last time).

Regards Chris.

Thank's KingSnake, that is the same way that we measure for group size but how are your agg's calculated,as I have said in the post above a agg of .25 you would have to not have a group larger than .150 in your 5 target's to achieve this.I am not arguing and saying that it cant be done but would like to know if I am compairing apples to apples.

Regards Chris.

Aggs in the US are in inches and not MOA. The average of the group sizes is the agg. Traditionally this is at 50 yds.

Thank's DonMatzeder, you add your five group's together and divide by five,ok that's settled.

Regards Chris.

Sorry,
Told you i'd get corrected.

I did mean measure outside, then minus bullet size..

Sorry again
Rob
