anyone have any info on the Ground Hog shoot at Brushy Mountian glun club at Gretna Va. may 19 ??

I checked with Pat Patterson about the benchrest match scheduled for May 19th at the Brushy Mountain Club in Gretna, VA.
This will be a benchrest groundhog match. Competitors will shoot a paper groundhog target at 100, 200, and 300 yards. There will be five shots at each range. One sighter will be allowed at the beginning at each range.
There will be 2 classes of guns: factory and unlimited.
The only modifications allowed to a factory gun will be glass bedding and trigger adjustment.
Best edge scoring. Five points for anywhere in groundhog up to 10 in middle of scoring rings in body.
Wind flags allowed.
Cost is $10 per entry and you may shoot both classes.
The match is scheduled to start at 9AM.
The range is located just north of Gretna, VA. GPS Address: 1813 Izzak Walton Rd., Hurt, VA 24563

They had a good turnout. I would guess about 32 shooters. The match ran pretty smooth for their first effort. Thanks to Pat and Glenn for putting on the match, it was fun and I hope they do it again. I don't have the names of the winners so maybe someone will post them. Thanks again to all who helped and good shooting to the winners.

Thanks to everyone that helped with the match, and all the shooters that showed up. It was a fun shoot and I look forward to the next one. I ended up winning custom class shooting my FIL's Savage Action 6mmbr. I actually ended up in a shootout for first place and only had enough of bullets for the match, ended up winning the shootoff with a borrowed bullet. Glad there were lots of 6br's there. A group of nine of us came up from central NC and went home with 1st in custom, 3rd in custom, and 1st ,2nd, and 3rd in factory.

I heard there was a new world record *5-shot-100 yard* set there this weekend also

Congratulations to the winners! Anyone know what caliber 2nd & 3rd was shooting?

There was a new world record at 100. The guy left after he couldn't hit the paper at 200 though. I'm not saying there was or was not 5 shots in that little hole but if there wasn't that had to be the luckiest one shot there ever has been, where did the other 4 go, unless he puorposely missed.

Second place in custom was won with a 30BR, 3rd with a 6br or 6brx, I can't remember which gun he was shooting. Factory class 1st and 2nd was won with two Savage LRPV 6mmbr's, and 3rd was won with a savage LRP in 260.

We're thinking of coming. Can you go into more detail on the shoot? What classes does it consist of, any weight, rest/bipod, or caliber restrictions? Does the shoot have any prizes or payout?

we have three classes VFS these are full blown bench gun mainly 30br Modified class that can be most anything the only thing we ask if you have a 30br bilt on a factory action with a 3" forend you shoot in VFS no weight limits any type rest or bipod we also have a factory class bedding and trigger ajustment is ok but other then that it needs to be factory the savage LRPV guns are fine payoff is not much $20 for first place and it cost $20 to enter these are just fun shoots we have one every month 200yd one month and 100yd the next
