Greasing pellet

New to the sport of airgun! Purchased a Avanta 853 and added 753 sights. First peep sight gun I've owned. I read a article in which the author talked of "greasing"(??) his pellets. I don't have any idea of what he/she meant. Would someone please give some insight to this practice. My Avanti puts the pellets in the inner circle at 10 meters with Int'l 10 meter targets. Just trying to learn as much as possible to get the tightest groups possible at various distances. Thanks in advance.
 
Probably means lubing the pellets. Common lubes are Krytech, carnuba wax, and pledge.

Thanks Dan. What are the purposes in lubing and does the shooting distance have a bearing?
