Gordon and Cherie win them all at Salem

What a day we had at Salem today. We had 9 shooters this morning for the 3-Gun match and 11 for the UL match this afternoon. Conditions were cloudy and cool with very switchy winds 5-15mph in the morning, with the sun coming out in the afternoon and warming up to around 70. Winds were much more manageable but still a little switchy, and our scores showed it in the Ul match.

We had one shooter shooting his first every match, and I'd like to thank Mike Tunis for bringing his buddy Scott Lis. I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves enough to come back for more. Thanks also to Pete Roberson for running the UL match for us. I think we completed the entire match in about 1.5hrs with Pete calling the line and scoring targets while we shot.

Gordon Eck won 5 out of the 6 targets and both aggs today with his self built Broughton/Suhl in a Pippin stock. Cherie Henderson won the 10.5lb target with a very nice 249-10X.

Here are the top three in each class and match:
Sporter:
Gordon Eck-------243-9x
Tim Wagner------243-9x (we had to go to second miss to break the tie.)
Mel Eck----------243-8X

10.5:
Cherie Henderson---249-10X
Gordon Eck---------247-13x
Michael Gallant-----247-13x(another close one. FM 12 and 13)

13.5:
Gordon Eck---------249-14X
Todd Banks---------248-13X
Mel Eck-------------247-17X

3-Gun
Gordon Eck--------739-36X
Mel Eck-----------737-33x
Cherie Henderson--734-32

UL-1:
Gordon Eck------248-14x
Tim Wagner-----248-13X
Todd Banks-----247-12X

UL-2:
Gordon Eck------249-15X
Todd Banks------249-12X
Mel Eck----------248-14X

UL-3:
Gordon Eck------249-15X
Tim Wagner-----248-17X
Mel Eck---------247-14X

Agg:
Gordon Eck-------746-44X
Todd Banks-------742-36X
Mel Eck-----------739-44X

I would like to thank everyone who came today for reminding me why I run these matches. It only takes about 5 minutes of being around these guys and Cherie to erase all the stress of preparing for a match!

What Happened to Ken!!

Boy, It's tough getting beat by the wife at home and at the range!!!:D:D:D

Todd,
You ain't doing bad either. Good shooting Guys.
Jim

Todd,
Thanks for running two great match's and the food was great! Nice to see everyone after the long winter. Good shooting everyone. Looks like every one was testing all the new eley cheaper club and blue box. Mike Tunis and Scott Lis held their own with being new shooters. I let Mike use a rest with a windage top and shot over 240 and Scott did well having to move the rear sand bag each shot. Good shooting guys!

Way to go Cherie good shooting. Congrats to all who competed. Gordon you did good with that 23" schul... See you and mel this Wed.:)

Todd,
Thanks for the effort you put into the match. I had a great time. The lunch hit the spot.

Ken and Cherie, Tim, Mike and Scott - It was a pleasure to meet you. Ken, I enjoyed shooting next to you, your banter kept me chuckling all day.

Pete - thanks for calling the unlimited and I'm glad you picked up a sporter to shoot this year. Anyone who has a "Rimfr BR" license plate on his truck just has to be shooting.

Gordon - great shooting. - as always, thanks for the tips. Mel my condolences that you had to endure the ride home with the top gun.

To all - it was a good day of shooting and one heck of a fun time!

Best,
Michael

Congratulations Gordon and Cherie on some fine shooting!

Boy, some of those scores are close.

Hope to see you all at the "Tom Miller" this summer.

Gordon, please leave a couple of X's tucked away somewhere for me will ya? ;)

Good shooting Gordon and Sherie!!! Gordon I guess you learned how to put rifles together,I hope you will show me how you did it when I get home:D:D:D. Mell you shot verry good also, maybe Gordon will tighten that barrel for you!!:D:D:D I guess Bainer could not make the match, hope dont have gun trouble :( See you soon, Marty

Sounds like a great match congratulations to all!
Cherie, looks like all that wind on Sat. was good practice
Steve

Cherie is still smiling.

Phil, she beat me 4 of the six targets. It does make for a more pleasant ride home!

Jim, I did good on Sat. Can't shoot two days in a row!

Mike, had to keep up the banter so you wouldn't notice I can't shoot!

Steve, the wind Sat. was good practice, worked for Cherie anyway.:) Guess my problem was that there wasn't enough of it on Sun. The wind is your friend.

Todd, we had a really fine time, as always, at Salem. I think the home range ground rules should include a handicap for Gordon! Please work on that and have a proper proposal drawn up for next month. Thanks.

Ken

Your going to have to take that rifle out of her hands and give her the pots and pans back!!! NAH, don't think that would go over very well!!:rolleyes:

Phil,

I have the rifles, pots, pans and Ken and I love them all.;)

Love,

Cherie

I'm glad everyone had a good time at the match. I'm still very much looking forward to scoring a 250 target for Cherie at Salem! She was so close this time!

Ken, I don't know what we can do about Gordon. I'm pretty sure he was shooting Eley Team for the UL match, so limiting him to cheaper ammo isn't going to help the rest of us! Maybe a ban on all Suhls with Maple stocks? Nah, that probably wouldn't work. He's got all the equipment and know-how to just build something else to whup us with:eek:

There are a couple of other guys to watch out for this year, too. Tim Wagner was shooting a box stock 541S in sporter class. It's not the first time he's done well with that gun, either. The first time he showed up with it, he won the match! He's also got a new Turbo that looks like a real shooter.

Michael Gallant's got a new Myers Hall that's helped him to place near the top consistently, too.

It's going to be a very interesting season at Salem this year. I'm looking forward to every match! Judging by the turnout yesterday, we need to get the 4 new benches the club has approved built soon.
Todd
