I have an old Win. Mod. 70 push pull which was trued and put into a Brown Precision benchrest stock by Mr Brown back in 1971. It was a .243 and he made it into a single shot + stiffened up the action. It has a Canjar single set 2 ounce trigger. It was a very good shooter in its day before I shot out the barrel.

I don't have much to invest, but this is what I am going to have done to it:

30" Krieger cut Palma barrel with a 1 in 8" 4 groove rifling. Still haven't decided on a hv or lv taper.

.236 bore chambered for 6mm BR Norma brass so I won't have to turn the necks (I hope).

I will re-bed the action myself which I have done many times on other rifles.

What do you think? Any suggestions? Can not afford another action.

Sounds like it could easily be an x-ring killer ;)

Take a look at the current blog over on 6mmBR.com, they did some barrel length tests w/ jackie schmidt; looks like 28" might work well enough without having to go for the full 30" if it might help w/ balance/handling on the bags. Otherwise... I think you'll have a lot of fun with that rig.

Good luck,

Monte
