I believe you can use that gauge for any standard (not improved) cartridge based on the 308 case.... .243 on up...

Yes.
The 338 Federal is nothing more than the old wildcat 33-08, the 308 Win simply necked up to 338 caliber without any other changes. Headspace-Head Clearance specs are the same as the rest of the cartridges based on the unaltered 308 family, the 243,260, 7-08 and etc.
