I know, wrong forum, but I always get good advice from you guys. Does a Glock require oiling or lube and if so, where? this would be just for general maintenance, not because of a problem.

Thanks,

Jim

yes they require oiling. 1 drop on each of the rail inserts, 1 drop on the barrel hood, and 1 drop around the muzzle.

I was briefed at Glock

in part for a large purchase for our PD. They do suggest small bits of oil every 5,000 rounds or so but the weapon is first and foremost a no attention combat weapon whose patented polymer requires no lube. Suggest you contact them directly to verify. Overbore

The last Glock armourers course I attended at the factory stated exactly the above, plus a drop on the disconnector if I remember.

The replies that indicated where to oil it are in fact correct, but it will function quite well without so don't worry and overdo it. I live in a dusty climate and some of the armorers were just using spray on teflon lube that dried and calling it good. Works fine.

I took one G17 and degreased it with brake cleaner and shot 1000 rounds through it without a single failure. I believe we had one that had 20K rounds through it without cleaning and oiling and it was still ticking fine. They are great battle weapons and very forgiving.

I always place a dab of grease on the trigger transfer bar myself. They come with a copper bearing (maybe never seize) lube on them. I have seen some a year old, still on the factory lube!
