Thirty Rifles competed yesterday at Gallatin TN in the June 7 UBR match. We had eight shooters in Factory Class all shooting Savages and Remingtons. John Charland won his first yardage and Grand Agg after competing with us for more than a year. It's good to see people improve. Also, showing remarkable improvement, Russell Scales finished 2nd in Factory for his best scoring in three years.
We had nine of sixteen competitors in Custom Class shoot a 500 or better GA. This was the highest total since we've been holding matches. Robbie Talley, shooting his first match with us and his first anywhere in several years, won the Grand Agg with a 506. It shows his consistency in that he didn't win either yardage, but did take the GA. One of the goals we had when starting UBR was to attract shooters who had put away their PPC's for lack of group shooting opportunities and the fact the VFS almost demands a .308 bullet to compete. This seems to be working for us. The downside is that it makes it tougher to win . The full results should be up on the ultimatebenchrest.com website in a few days. The next match in our area will be at the Two Brothers Range near Auburn KY next Saturday (June 14) and the next match at Gallatin will be held on Saturday July 5th. Come shoot with us.
