Gallatin TN UBR match 5 4 13

Saturday’s match at Gallatin was reminiscent of two years ago, the W/E of the Nashville flood. Not just because it was the same W/E, but because the conditions were remarkably similar. We had steady rain from early morning, well before the match, until about the middle of the 200 yard match. The upside was that we had none of the usual wind gusts and switches that regular Gallatin shooters are familiar with. The last few relays of the day were shot in nearly a dead calm and the scores reflected that. There were no new records set, mostly because the early part of the day had conditions that were difficult to pin point in the steady and sometimes hard rain. But some came close. One shooter, who will remain nameless at his request, would have been one point short of the 100 yard record, but had a slam fire on the last target. It turned a perfect 66 into a 62. Also, Joey Gregory probably didn’t know he was only one point short of the record (246) in Factory Class @ 300 yards with a 245.

Thanks to all who were able to come and deal with the rain. We missed those of you who had better sense and stayed home. The next local match will be at the Two Brothers Range in Auburn KY on Saturday, May 18. Jimmy showed us some fine hospitality for their first match and set the bar pretty high.
