"Frozen" Scope Adjustment

Having started to develope a distrust in internal adjustment scopes, and seeing the growing(?) popularity of "Frozen" scopes in 100/200 yard becnhrest, can these scope mounts be built with enough adjustment to reach out to 1000 yards?

Id think by virtue of external adjustments and lack of tube spatial restrictions you could get 180* of adjustment. ???

IMO you would not want this type arrangement where you will be making repeated sight adjustments such as in long range benchrest. I believe all the mounts for the locked scopes are made to adjust and then lock in place thus adjustment is not quite as easy as turning scope knobs. On short range guns when shooting for group the placement of the group is not critical thus the scope does not require adjustment often.

I would agree with Joel on this one. Remember, at 600 and 1,000 yards, you also generate a score along with a group. During sight in periods, you will be constantly adjusting your scope right up to to the last 15 sec. prior to going hot on the record target. Short range has merit, long range not!

I think you guys are correct. In doing some more research I dont think that this is the way that I should go. To bad Mitchel Optics or Unertl aren't around anymore.

They have plenty , and therein lies the problem I tried one of the fixed scopes with micrometer adjustments moving from 100 to 200 was only around a thousandth on the dial. Group shooters do not need to hit a specific spot so much as they need POI to stay put in one spot. I found the adjustments way to coarse for longer yardage or even short range score use.
