Front Rests - How much adjustment is really needed for 25m game?

I'm on the verge of ordering a rest:

JJ Industries
Shade Tree Model 2 Top(For 50yards and under)
Sinclair Competition Shooting BR

The JJ has the most adjustment at 100" of Windage at 100yards(50" at 50yds).
Shade Tree offers 23" of Windage at 50 yards
Sinclair Offers 48" of Windage at 100yards(24" at 50yards)

So at 25meters do all of these equate to sufficient adjustment at 25m for the official target?

Tony

Tony..

Still interested in your Caldwell ......if you are selling it....

Thanks Bill!

I have the Shade Tree rest and use it for 50 & 25 Metres, i find it very good and likle the simplicity of it.

Is the action of it really smooth? Also, after you break your shot, do the cross hairs move on you?

Regards,

Tony

I vote for the Shade Tree for 25 and 50 yds/meters. If your gun is moving you might want to try one of those mercury suspressers in the butt stock of your gun like the skeet shooters and trap shooters use to help with the recoil. I know a couple of shooters that are having great success with them.

Muchas gracias...I'll send e-mail so we can arrange deal..$$.....

That can't be very effective. The mercury recoil reducer cannot function UNLESS the gun moves, which, by nature, would defeat the need for it, right? Yes, it helps shotgunners by dampening the kick, but critical recoil for accuracy occurs during the vital period the pellets is still moving up the barrel, and the mercury gizmo wouldnt do much with that.

The thing is LD is they think it's working for them so I won't tell them you said it won't work. And I'm Not trying to start a peeing contest either.

Not saying it won't do anything at all, as, if a gun is moving back a 1/4" or more in the bags, it CAN reduce THAT, its just that a typical airgun only moves around 1/10" or less while the pellet is still in the barrel, and the mercury doesnt have time to give its full effect in that span. I am sure a rimfire, it will reduce the rearward motion on the bags some tho. But, maybe I'm wrong in this ... if someone has improved thier scores with it, well, why not then?

Well I placed the order last night...

I figured I'll never get rid of my Bald Eagle Rest and the Shade Tree Model 2 Top IS the most affordable next step up in rests for me so it would be the logical path. So I ordered it, an Edgewood 3" Wide Reinforced Bag and a SKB Case to transport it in!

If it just doesn't work out for me for whatever reason, I'll give the Sinclair or JJ a whirl!

Tony

Order the JJ now, an b the time you get it, you will be read to unload the Shadetree on me!

Tony
I really like my shade tree 2. And you won't have any trouble covering targets at 25/50.

Lol ld!!!

We shall see, gonna give the Shade tree a fair shake first and think if worse comes to worse, I bet I could get my wife and/or daughter into BR with Shade Tree if I end up getting another rest!

My daughter loves shooting off the bench(if daddy cocks and loads her springers or has her rimfire and a brick of ammo). With a good rest and one of my USFT's, chances are she'll like it a lot too and daddy can focus on shooting his gun!!! :)

Talk to you later, good luck this weekend!
