Lynn, I'm just a dumb old man.....but I do know not to post on Bills thread. Now that we are talking about Bills thread, where you tell these centerfire shooters to get a Harrells Tuner. How do they put it on their barrel without threading? I must have missed the sermon that day, can you point that out to me? I'm just a dumb old man.....But I know Bill said never, never ever, thread a barrel or bad things will happen. Well Lynn, you know what I'm thinking? Now that we got the cat out of the bag on the tuner, Its time for Bill to explain the "six o'clock chamber" to these centerfire shooters. The "six o'clock chamber" was one of Bills great revelations about 6 years ago. I'll let Bill or Lynn explain it, I just thought certerfire shooters would be interested. It sure was a boon to rimfire shooters and I just know the centerfire shooters will love it. I'm just a dumb old man.....

James, I just got a call from Paul Landell. He took a new Kreiger and threaded it for one of our Shadetree tuners. He shot 5 rounds to break in the barrel and then shot 3 shot groups moving the tuner 1/8th turn for each. He said after 5 groups he found a sweet spot. He was amazed at the effect that the tuner had on the groups. He proceeded to shoot 6-5shot groups with groups from .120-.180. I guess that if he hadn't threaded the barrel, it would have shot zeros.

Wait a Minute, Lynn

James when you call about ordering your tuner you give them your muzzles diameter and what it is 1 inch back. They charge you $15 and make it a perfect fit.
When it arrives in the mail you loosen up the clamp push it into place and tighten down the two socket head capscrews.
Leave it set at zero and look for vertical. If you have vertical add one ounce and repeat your test.As soon as you see the vertical is gone do the wait test.

On the 6 O'clock chamber I believe that only applies to shooting lead bullets were they build up excess lead at the 6 O'clock position.Full details on it can be found in Precision Shootinhg magazine.
Sorry to hear your real old but atleast your still shooting.
Lynn

Now, before you go and tell someone new to br shooting that you can clamp a tuner on a centerfire you need to think about that. You know that will not work and Bill sure didn't say that. We sometimes have trouble keeping a clamped tuner on a rimfire, what you are saying is a disaster looking for a place to happen. Now Lynn, when I told you last nite that there were a couple of advantages to being old I was wrong. There is just one advantage, you recognize revisionist history. Lynn, I'm just a dumb old man..... I didn't say real old, where did you get that? I'm the same age as Bill. You need to be more accurate when you interpret mine and Bills post or we are going to need a new interpreter.

This Is Your Best Answer??????

James I was trying not to embarrass you because you said you were old and dumb. You asked about the threads on a tuner that doesn't have them so I thought you were having a senior moment or forgot too take your meds.
I have had threaded tuners loosen up and I did talk to Bill on the phone about it but I have never had a clamped on tuner move on me.If your tuner moves on you bed it with J-B Weld.
I think Roger Von Aherns is working on a attachment method that everyone will like.
Lynn

I said on a thread on BRC (not the threads on a tuner) you adsvise people to clamp a Hoehn or Harrell tuner on a centerfire barrel. If you think a clamped tuner will stay on a tapered barrel you are wrong. If you don' rescind that statement about clamping a tuner on a centerfire barrel You are not near as smart as I thought you were. Hey Lynn, it don't take much of that , "I'm just a Dumb old man, I ain't got no learning" CRAP, before it gets old. Hell, we have read it in almost every post. Are we still going to lunch?

Butch-

I'll have to check out Paul's tuner if he comes up to springville for the second leg of the Tournament next week.

Lynn....

James
Why won't a clamped on tuner work on a tapered barrel? Can't we simply put the same taper on the tuner? Why do they want these meaurements if its not possible?
I know a wedge fit with no clamps no threads and no epoxy works just fine.
Lynn

I'M trying to help you on this post but I see you have it all figured out.

Sorry Lynn..

I'M trying to help you on this post but I see you have it all figured out.

I should have said, I'm trying to help you with this thread but I see you have it all figured out. James
