Franken-Rapid

I've been getting frustrated shooting my factory stocked Rapid off the bench. It rocks all over the place, and I know I'm losing points because of it. I had a chance to try the Rapid out at 50 meters yesterday after the NY State IR50/50 match at Liverpool. The rolling stock REALLY causes problems at that distance, but when the gun didn't move, I was able to hit 9,10 and X's regularly. When it did move, shots went into the black.

We got home at 4:30 this afternoon, and I decided to try to come up with a quick solution to the Rock and Roll factory stock. Attached are some pictures of the ugly but stable "stock" I was using about 2 hrs later. I tested off my picnic table, which sits on uneven ground and isn't even close to being level, and was happy with the way the gun shot.

Most of my hand tools are at the house I'm trimming. I didn't have any of my screw guns here, so I just glued and nailed it together for tonight. I'll take it to work tomorrow for some fine tuning, and I'll shoot it in our match on Tue. I have a blank glued up for a "real" BR stock, but won't have a chance to build it till after the season. Hopefully, "Franken-Rapid" will get me through the rest of this season:D

Ron,
Yep, Gary's stocks are beautiful. I've got a blank all glued up to build myself something similar over the winter. But for now, I've got about .50 cents worth of nails and screws and some free scrap wood in the one I built last night, and I just ran 24 shots through the Rapid without missing a single 10:D. It'll be interesting to see how it shoots off an all concrete bench instead of a shaky picnic table:D:D

Todd,
I bet you shoot the first 250 with that stock. Good luck
Paul
