Forum Format, Mark As Read

OK, Did I miss something? Why won't the forums automatically go into "read" status once you open it? Not just a particular thread, the whole page used to be taht way, and so are most forums. I don't need to manually set each forum as "read"on most. What happened?
 
It may have to do with the host clock being off so much.

Could be that I screwed around with it

Trying to fix the login/logout problem. I recall that I upped the "session timeout" significantly.
 
Here's what I found.

The server time is eastern US (New York)
There is a setting under "General Settings" where you can adjust the time displayed.
I set mine to ".....Eastern...." and then Daylight Savings to "...Always On" and the time is now correct.
Too many settings indeed but it's probably necessary considering the international aspect.

I like it better now, I didn't care for it when forums were automatically marked read before I read them.

I vote with Chisolm on the timeout thing! It's frustrating to start down a long list of new posts, then find them all marked read when you go back to the list. Then you have to manually scroll through the entire thread to find the posts you haven't read yet.

I like it in it's present form. It allows me to leave the site then come back without looking through the individual forums to finnish reading them..
