For those in the path of Ike

I pray for you and your families. Hurricanes are dangerous and destructive. They leave a lot of heartache and work to be done. May Ike be weaker than expected and leave quickly causing less harm than forcasted.

I'm in Pensacola, went to the beach yesterday as Ike was 250 miles to the south. This is Pensacola Pier, it is roped off for 2/3rds of it's length because earlier in the day waves were breaking over the 30 foot high structure. Nobody was in the water, not even immortal teenagers, because the chances of survival were low.

The real breakers were another 200 yards offshore, 20-25 foot waves.

I've got a 22 foot saltwater fishing boat. No way yesterday, don't think I'd have survived steep 20 breakers.
