this receiver has claw on bolt does the barrel cut off flush at the back or do u need to

cut extractor on barrel for the claw to work

thanks for the help in advance

On an FN98 you fit the barrel tight against the headspace ring... (sometimes referred to as the 'C' ring or the "H' ring depending on the configuration of that action)... no extractor cuts are required...

this is FNH usa action fredericksburg VA

there is no ring like what u described i was the barrel would still be sut straight at the breech

whats do u think

Dennis I think
He's talking about a M70. I would myself kman. Some folks say you can do without it but not me.I did one this week.

In the back of "Bolt Action Rifles" by Frank DeHaas, there is a series of drawings showing the tenons of most rifles, the drawings are adequate, and some dimensioning is there to get you close. But, Any action you do you should measure and do the fit up based on your measurements and guages.

I've barreled a few of those FN SPR actions. Cut a coned breech and also the extractor cut. On a few of them the action face was not square with the threads and needed correction, but all in all, they are very good actions and make great hunting rifles. You can also modify them with a WSM mag box and they'll feed the 248 Win based rounds slick with 3.050" mag length.
