Just one question, do you take a full-depth cut for the flute or do you cut them in increments, say two or even three passes to finish one flute? If not, have you ever had any problems with warpage, and what are you using for coolant? Looks like just an air nozzle for coolant.

OK, I guess that was a couple questions!

Thanks for the help and pics.

Msalm,

In the previous thread Dave mentioned he used a mist'er, so yes, it's air but with coolant.

Nice setup Dave. Do you have a power feed on the mill for x axis?

Next thing, we'll have to find you a fourth axis cnc!

Hi Phil

I'm way to old to crank handles that much. When I'm fluting it's the only time I can multi task. As you well know a change in the pitch of the sound gets your attention. So I'm usually chambering barrels and fluting at the same time. Simple, rigid setups work best around here.

Not sure the power company would like me if all the lights in the neighborhood dimmed when I threw the switch on a big mill.

Matt

full depth up to about .125" deep and it is a mist system.
