Acknowlegement: I want to thank Billy Dick and Barry for taking over for me after my bout with food poisoning from a local restaurant the night before who shall remain un-named. I dearly wanted to shoot, but was in no shape to do so. Also, I want to thank Marti, one of the competitor’s wives, for her medical assistance. She’s a credit to her profession. This is a great fraternity. Thanks to the North Florida Shooters, the DeSoto airgunners and other competitors whose clubs I’m unaware for making this match a success. Happiness is a dry fart. P.S.
Thirteen hopeful chaps took to the benches on a balmy Central Florida afternoon with a light breeze blowing from the left between berms on each side of the course of fire. Our MD, Paul Stakun, had just come down with food poisoning and had to sit this out after all the hard work he put in. One of his minions and Big Al from the North Florida Shooters Association pitched in and did an OK job. Last month at the NFSA BR range, Paul and Cliff Smith, both Field target shooters with RAW FT rifles from Central Florida took the first two places, how embarrassing for the Northern boys. So, this time the Northern boys came prepared with two ringers with Thomas Rifles. Who says you can’t get better scores with top equipment or maybe they may be just better shooters, but I digress.

Things I learned: I know what a Sinclair Speed screw is, if wind suddenly shifts 180 degrees stop shooting and if blowing off a round, make sure it is pointing at the dirt not the target, hole in white=zero
