we have a little club shoot and shoot out to 300yds. at that range is there an advantage with a flat base or a boatail. i can't be sure but it seems i read a long time ago that there was no advantage to a boatail under 300 yds. also just bought a 204 ruger and if you guys want to share some favorite loads and maybe some do's and don'ts i would appreciate it thanks md5200

Flat base are easier to tune and make

I am a newbie, but I know that flat base bullets are easier to make (reproduce) and easier to tune. I sort all of my boat tails based on bearing length for precision shooting. Doesn't seem to be as necessary with the FB bullets. But these are Bergers and SMK, not quite true customs.

I don't thing to see any advantage of the BT until you exceed 300 yds where the higher B.C. comes into play.

This particular forum is dedicated to short range BR and its cartridges, i.e., 6PPC, 30BR, 30PPC, and out similar rounds. I bet if you post in the factory/modified forum someone will give you tips on that 204.

Good luck and happy shooting,

tiny
