I have only been to 3 matches and have been bitten by the sport of bench shooting. I had no idea the first 2 times and had to wait 6 months for the 3rd. I have had the honor of having some great guys to talk with and to teach me the right way to shoot. Plus my mentor is a 90 year old smith that has been shooting off benches fror over 60 years. What I have read here and any where else I could get info about shooting paid off on Sat.. I won my first money and bragging rights for a few days.. Thank you for the info and hope to see you at the range...mike
 
congrats on your money win, i shot a couple saturdays ago , with my custom 10/22 and out shot several 40xs but i am still shy of my goal of 250 on the ibs target , wound up with a 249 but i am getting closer every shoot.

even a blind hog finds the slop from time to time!! you manage to get one 250 one time and we'll have to hear about it from you for years!!!! you will do it one time. then you'll never let it go. when you do it over and over and over let us know about it. till then let it go man!!!!!
 
why keep throwing good money after bad? buy a good bolt gun and do it over and over again!!!! i was at the same place you are now. you'll finally figure out that there are just to many problems with 10/22's to make a good bench gun. if you had a bolt gun you'd get the magic 250 your wanting. keep pumping a dry well and you'll learn after a while.

Does anyone know if Mr. Nobody shoots anything other than his computer. I hope that you new shooters have as much fun and friendships at the range that most of us enjoy. Don't be afraid to post your personal achievements here, they remind some of us of where we all stated.
 
congratulations to cali and nipper. nipper that is a great score with a
10-22 i bet the guys you shoot against hope you'll keep shooting it
too. i think mr. nobody was just trying to tell of his past with putting
a ton of money in a 10-22 and still wasn't a consistent shooter. if you
can get 249's and 250's most of the time with that gun i salute you.
i'm glad you don't use a bolt gun you'd be cleaning up consistently.
