Gents go gentle with me.

This is a first attempt build where ive done all the work (including chamber and threading) myself. Ive done several bedding and trigger jobs, but never a complete ground up build. I got a lathe a few months ago and started the steep learning process, but I think its turned out ok.

The rifle is for practical / tactical competitions in the UK and Europe.

Chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua with .290 nk, throated for 123g Scenars.

BAT RS action.

BAT 20 MOA rail.

Trigger is GC two stage

Lothar Walther 1-8" twist barrel.

Badger M5 bottom metal.

Badger Rings.

Manners T4a stock.

Scope 5-25 x 56 PM11

All coated in Duracoat

I'm also on with an F Class rifle based on a Barnard P action, hopefully this will shoot as well as #1.

That looks and shoots pretty good... you must be quite happy with how it all turned out.. :)

The feeling you get when the fruits of your labor works good is why some of us spend all that money on machinery instead of buying all our rifles from 'name' smiths.

My first build was a 40x rf BR rifle and I have shot my best ever groups with that rifle, a .212 and a .165 in back to back groups [ 50 yds, 5 shots, shots number 40 to 45 and 46 to 50 from one box of Eley black box without cleaning the bbl - crazy rimfires ]. When the 5th shot went into that .165 group it was a great feeling :D

Redmist, nice work! Do you have a picture of the trigger mounting? Did you run into any interference between the front trigger hanger screw and the CG tension screw?

Thanks for the kind comments.

German

i havent any pictires of the mounting, but i will take some and post soon, I am off to a mil comp in the Czech Republic in a few days time.

The mount uses stock remington spaced and sized pins, but also a clever swinging pivot that attaches to the mouting via a small allen head screw.

I had to relieve the inlett on the Manners ever so slightly in the mill and also the underside of the badger bottom metal to allow one of the ajustment screws clearance - easy job for most I guess.

Once I return from CZ, I will post further.

Thanks

Thanks Red, I have one of the CG triggers on my 40X and was wondering about getting it on to an action with a hanger as I have a BAT in the process of going together and would like to use a CG trigger on it as well.
