when replacing a firing pin spring will the old spring always maintain it set? how often are firing pin springs need replacing?

whenever it needs it or when you just know that's what the problem is, maybe.
i got mine from dave kiff from pt&g, might as well get a firing pin too while
you're at it. he has a web site pacific tool and guage. nice people, okay prices
good stuff.

Martin,
Its'a difficult question. Some last a lot longer than others. Springs on 40X's seem to last forever, or so it seems. The bigger diameter and material they're made from may make a difference. Some of the smaller diameter springs like an Aschutz may not last as long. How long, just depends on the spring and use.
If you're getting light hits and accuracy goes away, there's a good chance the spring needs replacing. However, sometimes a too strong spring makes accuracy worse too.

i think someone left mine cocked for 35 years, that didn't help.

I ordered a couple for these cz's and got to wondering about these 40x's. the rifles are 50 years old and not knowing the history wanted to check, best to leave well enough alone. thank you

Will hold set

Martin:
For BR, I would change the FP spring at least every 50k rounds. Several 52D & C springs I replaced, are still set after 3 years. They were in the orginal bolts since 68. I was having ignition problems so I felt it was time.
