hi All,
I am rebarreling my 22-250 to 22BR, my buddy said to me that i should have a thinner diametre firing pin in order to work correctly with the small primers, i said that there is no need and the current will be okay.
Whats the general opinion on this guys.
Thanks

Ian.

My .22 BR started off as a .22-250, and works just fine with the standard large Remington firing pin. A smaller diameter firing pin tip with a bushed hole to match the new firing pin will be less likely to produce cratered or blanked (pierced) primers because more of the surface of the primer is supported. My 6 mm BR is on a Ruger 77 and has the standard firing pin and firing pin hole, and my other small primer rifles all use the large (standard?) size firing pin with no problems unless I tip up the powder cannister to much.

Unless your buddy runs a firing pin grinding/bolt bushing business I think he's blowing smoke.

Thanks for that Larry, i will try it as it is, but if it does need doing i will do it at a later date.
Its a Stiller Preadtor by the way.

Ian.
