i installed a new firing pin spring and firing pin following the
instructions from bill calfees article. my pin now looks just like the
drawing in the article, the new spring is about 1/4 inch longer than
the old one i took out, everything seems to work well and the dent
on the case looks great, is there anyway to tell if everythings working
the way it should be now. the gun doesn't misfire at all now. the old
pin only protruded about .018 the new one about .035-.036. i got a lot
of ftf's with eley now it's fine. thanks, i really don't know much about
bounce and vibration any input appreciated.

anyone?

oh well i'll check tomorrow. where's b. calfee when you need him?
i would go through all my p.s. mags. but i just thought maybe i
could get an answer or two here alot quicker. goodnight fellas.

40X Firing Pin

Tom,
I'd check with Gene Davis. He installed the light weight firing pin in my 40X RF.

Tom,
There's no way to give a correct answer to your question. The only way to tell is to shoot the rifle and if it shoots to suit you, well it should be ok. You never said what the headspace was? Is the bolt the corect bolt for that receiver? Is the slot in the back of bolt where the cocking piece falls dead inline over the trigger sear, some ain't? Just too many variables to tell without seeing it. The maing thing is "how it shoots now". Good luck.
PM me if you need any info on what I've mentioned.

thanks kent for the comeback

i just talked to gene davis and he said it sounded like
everything was good to go. i have the original bolt
the old pin was causing ftf on eley's, protrusion was only
.018, got a new pin and spring from dave kiff, filed it down
to .035 protrusion in the shape of the picture from the
calfee article, strikes look real good now no ftf's, shoots
like it should, the new spring is about 1/4 inch longer than
the old and i was wondering if the new one being longer
could cause a problem, gene said that's normal, so i guess
now i just need to learn how to shoot, that may take awhile.
i learn something new everyday in here, that's why i come here.
thanks for the reply.
