What can anyone tell me about these. I've been told they were made by Valmet. Thanks for any info!--Mike

Thank you, John. I know very little about the rimfires, but there's a group of guys trying hard to get me into shooting with them. Would you happen to know any details on them, such as thread size and pitch on the tenon. How bout' some reviews..Would it make a decent action to build a budget rifle on, that one can be COMPETITIVE with. One of the guys has one of these he's wanting to trade. I have no idea what it's worth.--Mike

Mike,

I would stay clear of them, solely on the basis that they never were a big deal outside Scandinavia. I can only recall seeing one here in Australia in my ISSF days, though it did win the first ISSF world cup contested on the best 10 shoot off system, if my memory serves me correct. There will be no information on how to set up, bed or tune it, all the stuff you'll want to know.

Once you get that crap in your brain that you're cutting corners or using second best, it erodes your shooting confidence.

John

Thanks again, John. I'm tempted by the fact that it seems like a decent price and that most of it is trade. I'm just skeptical of anything that I know absolutely nothing about. I do know the gun shoots respectably with the right ammo. I just don't think I can be happy with "respectable". That leads to more work..and I don't know the ins and outs of these particicular guns, by any means

Mike ,

My Kentucky brother , John gave you some outstanding advice . Not trying to be negative to anyone that has one , but knowing your reputation as a centerfire shooter I would just walk away. Just my 2 cents. Good luck . - Clint

Not much if any support on these here state side, Dang good shooters though for position rifles. parts are are a problem state side. Before doing any trading might want to contact Champions choice or champions shooters supply or Pilkingtons for there take on them. They are fairly rare here. I only know of one in my locality which I have shot, but that was some 20 years ago. I have only come across one or two others in the last 20 years as well.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably steer clear.
Clint, I have know idea about this reputation you speak of. I can only hope that it's a good thing.
