I must be boring all of you, but I had to post 2 more pictures. I have finished for now until I get the "stuff" to camo it. I can not wait any more. It has to be shot. :D

PS: It is chambered for 6mm Norma BR. The action is a Savage Target action with Target Accu-trigger with the left load and right eject and right bolt. It has a 26" Brux 8" twist barrel and a Prairie Dog Special / Tactical stock by Stockade Gun Stocks who also built the new "Popgun". :)

Thanks for the invite Lynn. By host do you mean that you will pay my way out there? ;) I live near Atlanta. I'd love to go, but maybe next year when I retire. We have always wanted to go to California.

"Aim small miss small", :D

Gt40: No boring here!
I am excited for you and your new Rifle.
Back in 1997 I had a full custom 6mm Remington Bench Rest built for me on an XP-100 action.
It has a Hart, heavy, stainless barrel, 26 1/2" long.
It uses a Jewell under-lever safety (fits inside the the trigger guard just in front of the trigger and moves "forward" to fire).
I had the Riflesmith chamber/throat my Rifle for the then newish Nosler 55 grain Ballistic Tip bullets as it was intended to be a out to 500 yard Colony Varmint gun.
As well as my Rifle shoots the 55 grain Noslers it shoots 68 grain custom bullets even better.
The Riflesmith also built it with no recoil lug between the barrel and the action. Instead he squared of to 90 degrees a radiused "ledge" on the under side of the XP-100 action using this "ledge" as a recoil lug. The action was then bedded in black Marine-Tex.
I mounted a Leupold 8.5x25x40mm scope on it and used a McMillan Winchester Marksman style stock for it.
This Rifle is not only very pleasingly accurate it maintains its accuracy in the Varmint fields well into/past the 40 shot point where I normally set it aside for cleaning.
I know you are going to be happy with the 6mm BR cartridge and wishing you best of luck when load development commences.
Any thoughts on the "differences" (if any?) or your preference for the 6mm Norma Bench Rest over the 6mm Remington Bench Rest cartridge/chambering?
Again best of luck with your handsome custom Rifle.
Hold into the wind

Thanks VarmintGuy,

Actually I am a navis at this sport. I have only shot at club benchrest events. I was into High Power for a while though. I had an old .243 that I had accurized back in 1970 that shot very well back then. I decided on building a no neck turn 6mm Norma BR. because of all the info I received from all you knowledgeable guys here and from Kevin Rayhill after I liked the look of his stock and decided to get. I made the decision to have Kevin build the rifle mainly because he had the stock and had all the parts at hand to complete the job. I also took the advice from here about Brux Barrels which I had never heard of before.

So to make a long story short if it wasn't for all the very good people here I probably would not been guided in the right direction of having a competitive rifle.

Also I do have to say that the Savage Target action I bought functions as smooth as silk and I love the target acc-trigger just the way it came adjusted from the factory. I have been using a 2 oz. Canjar set trigger for years so I know what a much lighter trigger is like. I do NOT like a front heavy rifle and this one is balanced right over the chamber which makes me happy. Kevin also sent the test target that measured .084 inch. :D:D:D:D

So thanks again to everyone here at Benchrest Central. :)

That's a dedicated shooter.

Customizing his rifle before he gets living room furniture.:D

would you be able to update us on the accuracy of that barrel/action?

.084 seems rather good for a Savage action etc. Especially right out of the gate with a new barrel. I'm just a newbie, but I"m impressed.
