I just had a window pop up on a site I was reading congratulating me on winning a year's work permit in the States.

Quick, before I close down that window, what can a 62 year old with a bad back, hearing issues & personality defects expect to stash away in 12 months? Oh, should I bring my wife & what health fund is the best one to join?

It's them there demcrats looking fer more constituints so's to keep 'em in office.........they'll stop at nothing don't ya know.
Ad must be part of stimulis package.

BTW, anybody hiring down under? Maybe a rangemaster position?

Actually you just described 2/3 of Congress. If you sell the wife you could break even, if you buy heath insurance AND sell the wife expect to return home with no more than 1/2 what you started with.

John, I hate to break it to you, but since you appear to be a native speaker of English you are doubtless disqualified from immigration to the USA. Age, disability, abject laziness, nor any other infirmity will preclude immigration, but it seems that the ability to speak English might well be THE stumbling block.

By the way I've been meaning to ask one of you Aussie guys, You really eat that vegamite stuff? I've only seen it up close once, don't know it I'd eat it but it struck me as a pretty fair industrial adhesive.:D

National preferences are interesting, aren't they? My dad was really concerned that the GIs had their meal & dessert dumped in the same mess can up in New Guinea during WWII.

But yeah, I know that savoury isn't a big flavour style Stateside. We have a predominately British cultural background here, rather than that Brit/French/German mix that you have that seems to result in your national preference tending more towards sweet.

Anyway, who cares? You can have your peanut butter & jelly & I'll slap on some Vegemite for breakfast.

Just remember that there are conservation/recycling points in it here. The Vegemite is made from the yeast residue left in the Fosters beer vats after brewing - not that I'd drink Fosters myself.

Hats off to the G.I.'s that fought in New Guinea during W.W.11 They surely served their hitch in hell.

By the way, Tim, do all you hunters Stateside tenderise venison this way?

John,

Something tells me that you and your wife would enjoy a visit over here. I know that we would enjoy your company if there were no work involved and we knew that you were just visiting.:)

The United States is a very diversified country.
