Thanks for everybody's help on helping me decide on the route to go. So here's the plan:

I bought a used Anschutz 54 action with a bad barrel and a older style light trigger. ($500) Now I'm trying to get a barrel either a Shilen 4 grove ratchet or a Lilja ($350), but both of these guys are 8-10 weeks out on orders. Also I'm thinking of a McMillan stock. ($400) I have my usual barrelmaker/gunsmith friend lined up to chamber and cut the barrel. ($150) I I was thinking a Weaver T36 ($380) How does this sound?

Total $1780

mac stocks are old news

try the new robertson J T R benchrest stock, just like having a one piece rest. There were 4 countries at the centerfire br in south africa using them, and the aussies who won are thinking of going to this stock. Partly because of usa exporting hassles but also cause they used the gun in practice and liked it better than the stocks they were using.
there is a site sponsor has these in stock great price and a much better finish.
the silly wet stocks are dominated by robertson made stocks.

there will be more of these on the line once people try them I am sure.

I wear my lucky bibs! The Annie 54 is a good action. I shot one for a couple of years before getting my new 40x. I would probably still be shooting it if I had not gotten such a great deal.

You might want to give the folks at Broughton barrels a call. They might have a bit shorter waiting period. I've had really good luck with their barrels, both 16 and 17 twist.
