Feinwerkbau P70FT 15J/21J - for USA Benchrest Shooters

I read another thread about lack of availibility of P70FT in either 15J or 21J power variants....for Bench Rest use.

There are a several solutions.

Buy any Fwb P70 (10 meter - 7.5J power) on the second hand market, and order direct from your USA shop or USA Importer....

The parts required:
- Heavy Hammer
- Spring & Screw
- 15J or 21J plate (or both)
- P70FT Regulator set to 100 or 110 bar by Fwb Germany
- Spare Barrel Holder
- Barrel breech nipple
- Spare green O rings.
- Fwb small tube of grease.

So what next ?

Quite simply order a Fwb Mod 800 Barrel (Fwb now sells these), or LW blank barrel (with choke), to have machine cut & fitted on the spare Fwb barrel holder.

Replace 10meter hammer & spring in the action (you can do yourself) , with the FT heavy hammer, spring & screw.

Replace the 7.5J 10m Regulator with the "P70 Field Target" ...and fit the plate 15J or 21J.

Re-assemble, and PRESTO ! start sighting and you're done.

I would also finally recommend either having a USA local made replacement cocking lever, or order it from GINB ...to stop the plastic white one from shredding your thumb away ..:D

I would also consider ordering a 55cm L-O-N-G Prelutec Air Cylinder from Germany, for your bench rest gun.

Hope the above info. helps...It really is a painless process, once you have done your homework.

PS: Fwb has a mistake in its exploded diagram PDF - for the hammer, spring and screw...Its not correct ...see picture.

Other solution ? super expensive BUT, just get a power mod. kit from Jon Harris (UK), to fit on the new amazing Fwb 800 - the barrel is "what dreams are made of" ...see here for performance -

...by the way....Per Feinwerkbau catalogue 2012, the alternate solution is also to buy a BRAND NEW Fwb P70 Running Target model...and order the parts

This is still being made: Page 26 >> http://www.flippingpages.de/live/fein17tr/

and then mod., and fit the action into a laminate blank for Benchrest purposes...

Hi How can one get a FWB 800 , .177 barrel and what are the out side dimensions ??? Thank You

Try Pyramid Air...or whoever has the cheapest online price.

Make a list of resellers, call them , ask your questions...then ask how much further discount without front and rear sights.

Depending on answers...you should be able to decide who you will give you business to.

Keep us posted on your purchase experience.

Re: Fwb 800 barrel only

Sorry...misread your post somewhat...still suffering from hangover blues ! Lol !

Try emailing in Germany a trusted Fwb reseller I use: bogdan@kimla.de and ask if he will post to USA.

The barrel cost is around Euro239.

Alternatively, go through a USA Fwb reseller...again ask them for a quote, and categorically state you know Fwb is now selling the barrels in Europe. That may show the salesmen on the phone not to jerk you around.

Hope this helps.

As I understand this, you buy a new rifle, take whatever parts you need, buy the modification parts quoted above, and then, you buy a new stock?

Is this scenario also valid for post number 1 in this thread, you are supposed to buy a new stock as well?

Edit:
I checked out the new Feinwerkbau catalog and a new P70 wights far to much (4.5 kg) for my needs as I am going for a LV solution. I'll keep looking for something else.

No is the simple answer Buggson you can retain same stock everything, makes no odds. The only thing you would require is reg pressure upping, easy they are externally adjustable. Higher power reg has extra beleville washer, buy 50 still better off.

The only reason a barrel change may be required is some 10M barrels are useless after 25 yards and would require a change. Best course here is to try original before getting another possibly longer barrel.

You can use same reg and adjust reg pressure along with a modded 15J or larger spacer.

RIng P800 barrels came come steel sleeved with plastic breach seal installed or as an unsleeved barrel with a bagged breach seal unfitted.

Sleeved chrome plated they are 19.7mm o/d
Unsleeved nominal 15mm diameter x 425mm long more than adequate for 12ft/lb and above.
