Farley Rest Hand Rest

Guys,

I've only used windage rests in the past. I've got a Farley on the way.

I'm curious if any of you guys use a bag or something to rest your "joystick hand" on? Seems like it wouldn't be cool just holding it out there in space unsupported.

On a friend's Shadetree joystick, I rest my hand on the rear best base screw. The crew top on the Farley doesn't look like it would make that comfortable.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg J.

Greg,
Drink beer with your left hand, it will give you the stamina to hold your hand in the air for long periods of time.:D

You're welcome,
Keith;)

But, I'd need the beer, or something stronger, *during* the match to keep my hand from shaking.

Got one of those big-az alligator bags with twisted ears on the way to keep the right hand steady...

Greg,
I've got the gator bag, too, though the straight one, and like the extra control it gives for the trigger finger. But I've never noticed any problem working the Farley without a hand rest. Never even thought about it. If I remember correctly, I think my left forearm rests on the edge of the bench, somewhat counterbalancing the weight of my left hand. This may not be the case on all benches. Not saying a rest wouldn't be useful, just haven't found the need for it. With the distance the handle needs to move for a score target (more for the 100 yd target), a rest might even get in the way.

Cheers,
Keith

SG,
Take a pen to paper, write a sentence or two. How's it look? Now raise your forearm off the desk and try it again, bet it's a whole lot scribblier. The Farley can be adjusted so that the forearm and wrist are in solid contact with the bench.

Just loosen the set screw on front of handle, turn handle downward to suit your comfort zone and tighten the screw. Keep beer nearby. Thumbs up on the twisted gator rear bag.

Greg the handle is removable. 2 screws.
Just rotate the handle till comfortable.
Rotate the elevation knob till comfortable and on target. :)
Real fun to shoot with a Farley. Back to battery, everytime.....:)

Cool! Thanks for all the info!

It will arrive the 12th. I already have a Borden top for it and have an Edgewood bag on the way.

Many kudos to Jim Borden. Super excellent customer service and delivery time on the Borden top.

Yes use a bag...

yes if you are going to use it for score shooting...I have a SEB front rest..I use a 4"x6" pillow bag to rest my wrist/forearm on..I have tried to shoot without the bag and find my arm is more flat against the bench and my hand/wrist must be held up to work the joystick thru the full range of the score target...get a bag you can always remove it if you don't like it...;)

Gosh, Francis. I'm just doing what you guys recommend. Buy good stuff and cry once. Well, that and I'm trying to buy up good stuff before my wife gets her hands on my mad money. ;) I do think that I'll get one of the protector bags instead of that edgewood. Don't see much difference there.

Seriously, I appreciate the advice. Very much.
