I have this rest and used one Saturday that had modifications done to it and it was quite a bit smoother than mine, where could one purchase the parts from?? the "clear boot" at end of the handle was removed, handle diameter was smaller and the two "bolts" one on each side of handle were replaced as well,not sure what was different inside. any ideas?? forgot to ask fellow where parts came from..i did do a search and found where some had removed the boot and got a bit more range of motion and i tried this, i would say the range improved as well as the movement seemed smoother, but still not as smooth as the other one.

never mind , i did the how does this thing work approach, and figured out a little creflon dry lube and lightweight oil on the rack and pinion gear wouldnt hurt, also discovered the two screws left and right of the handle control the smoothness as well and tweaked them and eveything is good now.

thats just what i need, i ran across this site somewhere but didnt bookmark it. i see how the flat piece will be smoother than what i have now, mine are a "nipple" design , and with his design flat it will be smoother.
