Falcon Action for Positon Shooting

For you prone and position shooters...

I have discussed the possibility of creating a more position shooter friendly Falcon action with Johnathon of Baity’s Custom Gunworks. The action will have the trigger vertically aligned with the loading port to permit easy loading without compromising your position. It takes standard Remington style triggers such as the Jewell or CG X-treme. Frankly I’ll probably use a Kenyon.

The action will have all the features of the Falcon action including 6 o’clock ignition. The bolt handle is screwed on, so its configuration may be changed. This action could have their lighter version of the firing pin to ensure fast lock time, unlike the mass-enhanced pin that some benchrest shooters prefer.

Attached is a mock up of what we are thinking. I am interesting in ordering a few and would like for others interested to post their interest here and/or contact Baity through their email. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a rigid precision American action ideal for position shooting?

Howdy,
A couple of things that may be of interest. Obviously you have noted that the bolt handle may need to have some changes. I had thought some sort of forward sweeping "dogleg" may help. Some arrangement should be able to be arrived at that would allow the trigger, loading port, and, bolt handle location to be optimized.

Also, I asked Bill Calfee about this on Rimfireaccuracy a while back, and he said it may be possible to talk Jonathon into milling a rail, Anschutz style, on the action for the placement of sights.

And yes, it would be GREAT to have an American rigid precision action ideal for position shooting! My back is a wreck, position shooting is probably out forever for me, but when the time comes that I order a Falcon, I want to be able to order it in such a configuration that I could be able to use it as a position rifle, or a BR rifle, or both.

Best of luck with this, I have no doubt it will work out!
