Even More Metal Mayhem

Here is my prior thread: http://benchrest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61387

The 40x shot well enough at the match that I decided to put together a metal stocked drop port Viper with a PPC bolt face. I have the backbone of the buttstock just about whittled out. Next I need to add the 1/2" wide x 2" tall glide rail to the bottom of the backbone. Then a buttplate, I got bruised up by the 40x :(

This backbone is 1.25" alum whereas the stock on the 40x uses 1". I turn off about .020" to clean up the surface. This should help the balance.

One thing my design allows for is a nice recoil shoulder for the backend of the action, see pic.

For now I will probably just steal the forend off the 40x as those parts are very labor intensive. I have a simplified design in mind that I will make to reinstall on the 40x.

Torque?

Just curious if you can tell if the action/butt rotated after it was fired?

:)

I didn't really notice any extra torque when I shot the 40x last weekend. I do know that I like the flat toe line on the stock. Too bad it's not legal. On the Viper I an going to make 2 glide rails, one legal and one flat.
