Go to the home page of this forum, see the logos on the right side of the page? Click on one, say IR50, and it will take you to the IR50 web site. From there, locate the equipment list(s) and click on it. There has not been an ARA sporter match yet so you won't find a sporter equipment list. You will have to live with lists from IR and/or RBA for now.

They are what they are. Don't put money on their accuracy, ever! The PSL listing is the most accurate. Dan walked the line every match and updated the list with what the shooter had on the bench. Several of us change guns and/or ammo etc during a match and that never gets recorded on the list. Of course PSL does not have a sporter class......bob

Bob this is not a Flame but meant as a thought!
A lot of Match Directors quit listing or updating equipment because a few shooters did not want to be bothered filling in the forms. To justify their laziness they would say something like “Several of us change guns and/or ammo etc during a match and that never gets recorded on the list” so it is a waste of time!
I do agree with you “They are what they are”

What The Are is what the shooters starts with because he thinks it has a chance of winning the match and that is what will benefit shooters who ask a question like pickles.

As a sidelight to this over the last 4 months I have updated the IR50/50, RBA, ARA & PSL scoring programs to make it easier for match directors to track shooters equipment.
With the help of Dan & some other match directors the new versions have equipment for a lot of shooters already listed.

If anyone is interested they can always find my latest versions under Scoring Programs at: http://www.rimfirebenchrest.com/

Doug: No problem at all. I have been known to pre-register and then between that time and arrival at the match change my mind as to what gun/ammo/scope/rest etc etc. to use. Not that anyone wants to know what I shoot mediocre scores with. My point was only that the list is not accurate and one should not put money on them. If the list shows a Stith stock what does that tell us? Darn little I'm afraid. Same thing with a barrel. If I list a Shilen, the type is not indicated and "type" can make all the difference. Is it a 2 groove, 4 groove, 6 groove, ratchet, octagon etc etc. The list does not tell us that.

I have nothing against the lists, I try to be accurate when filling them in, many others do too. Appreciate you trying to make it easier on all of us to record things for posterity. bob

Thanks for your help. I could not pull up the list. All i realy wanted to know what scopes are used in the sporter class.

Pickles: I would suspect the majority of scopes on sporters are 6x Leupolds and 6x Burris HBR II's. Just about anything else is too heavy. For those that can handle the weight we see Leupold 6.5 to 20 variables and even a few NF 2.5 to 10's. I love the NF but its way too heavy for my sporter. In fact I had to part with a 6x Leupold and go to the Burris as I was 1/2 ounce over with the Leupold for my last sporter build. I'm not sure the Burris is available new any longer. I got lucky and found a new one. Wish we had more to choose from, but both fixed glass mentioned above are good scopes. Remember the sporter has to be at or less than 7.5 pounds. Not a simple task. bob

Leupold FX-III 6x42 Comp. Hunter is probably most common
I also still see a lot of Burris HBR II 6x's being used.
I'm also starting to see the Nightforce compact 2.5-10 showing up.
Not sure how many may still be using the old Weaver T-6
And have even heard some speak about the Leupold VX-3 6.5-20 EFR

Other than the obvious magnification and weight considerations,
an adjustable objective is probably going to be one of the common elements
in any of the sporter scopes
