Emert Ranch Shootout Results

Thanks to all who assisted in / and participated in the WVVFD (Water Valley Volunteer Fire Dept) 400 yard shootout this past Saturday at the Emert Ranch Shooting Range at Water Valley, Texas. We had about 40 shooters, the weather cooperated, and we had a great time. We had a different target scoring arrangement that included group scoring, along with shooting clay scoring. I would like to know participants opinions about the scoring system and shoot in general (favorable, non-favorable, recommendations). This should be an annual event, so be ready for next year.

I have attached a pdf of spreadsheet data from the match. There is a lot of data there, but I though people might like to see the caliber/group data. We had a R-L 10 mph wind with moderate mirage during the shoot.

Thanks to Tad Emert and his crew for putting on such a great event!

You can view the raw data at:

http://www.sporestriptesting.com/emertranch/Emert Ranch 101009 PDF Results.pdf

** ADDED PHOTOS ** http://www.sporestriptesting.com/emertranch/emertranchphotos.htm

The first page shows the scoring system, followed by score data from the four matches. The final match data is near the end and the last page shows group data from each of the matches. Hope I made the data clear enough for all to understand. Thanks. Tymn Combest

Great match! Thanks to Tad, Tymn, and the Water Valley Fire Dept. for the hard work you did. Only down side was the 367 mile trip to the range.

Thanks for the kind words. I would like to put together an informal 1000yd shoot on Friday next year before the big shoot on Sat. What are your thoughts on that? Do we need to shoot 400yd. or 600 yards in the Sat. shoot next year? Please all who attended email me at t.emert@wildblue.net with input. Thanks, Tad

The shoot was fun and the range was great...Thanks to Tad and everyone that helped to make it a great day. Congrats to Tim and Tymn on a close 1st and 2nd place. Great shooting!

I would stick with 400yds (my opinion)
-You can still see your bullet holes (w/scope or spotting scope)
-after 400yds even the mini's would get tough to see.

Just me thinking here, but maybe less people would show for a 500+ match and we certainly don't want that. Maybe some others will voice their opinions.

As for the 1000yd match on Friday, I say heck lets do it, can't hurt anything:D

When I am shooting at 600yd the midi's are the smallest I shoot at. They are one half minute of angle at that distance. The mini's are a half minute of angle at 400yd. At 1000yd yard the standard 4 inch clay is a little less than a half minute of angle. Thanks for the input.

I'd sure hate to have my spore's strip tested.
Your still my hero among'st shooters. You have the best score keeper I've seen. Maybe we will come back and shoot with ya'll for practice and do a little beer drinking this time.
Hope i didnt piss off too many people, my sense of humor is a little different.
Maybe Tad's wife got over it.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the shoot, visiting, and fun. Nice shoot and thanks for all the hard work that everyone put in to put it on.
I am with Tim, I like the 400yds. Having shot 500 at Waco and practicing it a few times, I think the 400 is the ideal yardage for this kind of shoot.
Thanks again for a good time and say thanks to everyone that helped with it. I still don't know why you didn't shoot at board #5 a few times!!!!!!! I can't believe you stayed on your own board all day.

I just had to jump in ...

Well, Mike, Im sure you've figured out that I had no other place to put the results other than my company website, sporestriptesting.com. But I bet if you did have your spore strip tested..... Obama would probably have you personally escorted to the closest Public Health Clinic!! hehehehe.

I tell you... this 400 yard cult is a lot of fun. I'm really looking forward to next spring and already sitting here sorting and loading bullets while watching Fox News.

Cheyenne has been reading this forum and she said she is willing to come down and do the scorekeeping at your proposed shoot next year .... but it might come at a high price!! Save some of the entry fee money for her!

Sam.. you're right. This shoot was a whole lot of fun and a lot of good West Texas (and south and east Texas) hospitality. I told Tad today that I'm already ready for another shoot. I think we've really hit on something here.

Anyway, that's about all I have for tonight. I do want to congratulate Tim again on a really good shoot. Those Duke guns really have some accuracy.
