eley velocity issue

my rifle is supposed to handle tenex or match, velocities of 1045 to 1060 fps.
after checking killough shooting sports and zanders extensive inventory list i find NOTHING under 1063...is this because the slower speeds are sold first or another reason i'm not aware of.......sumpthin tells me this is a dumb question

The Tenex Lite, about ten years ago was
1000fps at the muzzle &
930fps at 50 yards
Which was to be awesome in the "WIND".
Asked in 22 ammo about two weeks ago if anyone
had got a chance to shoot the Tenex Lite .
Most never heard of it, thats why us non bulk buyers
get the faster stuff and not the HUMMER ammo we desire ! ! ! ! !

I'm still lookin for the screamer ammo also and
would be happy with some under 1050fps

I have 1064, 1065, 1049, and 1057 that was purchased in the last 2 years from stores during Camp Perry (Champion Shooters Supply and Champions Choice) and from Bob Collins.
 
Gambler:

Check with Bob Collins.. When new Eley comes in, he usually reserves most of it under 1060 fps..

I don't know if he still has it or not but notice Brian Brandt has some 1049 for sale in the classifieds.

I just mentioned to Dan that I haven't seen anything from Eley under 1060 fps in almost 2 years. Besides, after chronographing several lots of Eley I've discovered that you can't always believe what's printed on the box.

i got back in this game knowing there was an ammo shortage, but thinking the shortage wouldn't affect me as I'd buy and shoot the high priced stuff cuz it's the best and the hoarders wouldn't touch it.
I've seen a few..very few.. stock looking factory sporters, that with a bedding and trigger job,add a forearm extension and the right
ammo would hang with customs...that's what I've wanted !!!
but I've hit roadblocks on every choice at every turn...
I've got the gun
scope, rest and all.. only to find out AIN'T NO AMMO, i can afford a few bricks at a time but not cases and i hate tuners:mad:

and that's the square peg what won't make round holes

I guess you have never called Bob or you would know that Bob does not reserves all eley ammo under 1060 for his bulk buyers!
If you want one box or 1000 boxes and he has it in stock he will sell it to you.
The problem recently has been that all the ammo coming in has been faster than 1060! As of 2 days ago he had some 1062 but I guess you did not know that because you never bothered to call!!!!:eek:
 
I gave up trying to get some Team from Dan. Not a reflection against Dan, but if he can't get it he can't sell it. Bought some Center-x from Scott. Course I've always been a Lapua sort of guy. So far in competition it has shot 2000 + agg over 6 targets I have shot with it at two matches. Better than the Master I've been shooting. I know thats not world beater, but for third string ammo at Air Capitol (The windy, switchy range) thats not bad. Might give a few boxes a try.

I looked at Bob's web site and I didn't see any slow stuff there either.

i should not have to stockpile, buy in bulk or scrounge for Eley ammo !
my best friend owns a gun shop and the Zanders delivery truck stops at his front door every two weeks.

i should not have to call....like i said I've got a dealer .

back in 2003 to get specific ammo lots and speeds released from Zanders
to my local gun shop i had to contact Bob Collins..otherwise you got what they sent when ordered, it was reserved by Bob Collins and i did contact
him, and I GOT IT....i don't see any sense in calling collins when my shop owner should be
able to request lot#s and speeds when he makes his by-weekly order:confused:
 
How about posting websights and phone numbers for us new guys who don't know who Bob or Scott are or their bussinesses.

Why don't you try tuning your rifle to shoot the ammo you can get? There's no magic speed that a rifle will only shoot.

other than tweaking the action screws I'm illiterate to tuning a factory sporter to ammo without cutting on it.

it has a tight bore match barrel, match chamber and crown , pillar bedding, one piece bolt, strong action, and very nice 4.oz trigger..other than head space adjustments, what's left ?

i'll build a turbo before i cut it up, i may do that eventually..but for now
i wants what i wants:)
 
this thread was not meant to be an attack on Bob Collins, he's done as much to grow the rimfire sport as anyone...thru the ranks from newbie to pro !
I'm sure he answers all calls and replies to every e-mail.

i just think i shouldn't have to bother him for a few bricks, when i could have
my local gun dealer order it ..
most of my competition shooting will be in local money matches, where cutting center (X)s is the objective, there will be turbos, suhls, 52ds,time precisions, Annie's, so it's not PLINKING..it's serious business and without
a tuner( i hate tuners) the gun i shoot will be more ammo specific.

from what i can tell there are no RBA clubs in Missouri and the nearest ARA
clubs are about three hours drive from me..i want to visit and shoot again with these guys, but not every day, my niche is small but it's mine and I'm on the same quest as you..rimfire accuracy.

Normally I would test lots. But this time I just ordered a case from Charles. Match before last I was shooting Master, wanting to test the Center-X first before shooting in a match but just decided to try it in the middle of the match. Did well so both me and my granddaughter shot it this last match. She had her best ever match and I was pretty pleased with mine.

I agree with Doug. I buy from Bob and shoot 1057, but have 1050,1053,1054,1055 and 1058- all obtained from him. The 1057 is a screamer and bought the last two cases a few months ago. I believe it'll be Sept. or so before more comes in. BTW, Bob does not have total contol of what he can get.

I bit the bullet

contacted Bob Collins, he's sending test lots right away !!

one huge advantage to dealing with him is his knowledge of barrels and ammo to match them with..without guys like him on the front lines the sport don't GROW !!!
and while I'm at it...i'd like to thank the guys from this board working behind the scene, passing and sharing their knowledge and info in e-mails and PMs,
some of you have the patience of Job !!!!
if I'm a GRUMBLER it because at times i don't like the system..i didn't want to bother Bob over a few bricks at a time, but if he don't mind...what the heck:)

Two months ago I was looking for some ammo for a 52E I had just bought. I had been emailing back and forth with Bob about what I should get. Well just out of the blue Bob calls me on my phone. He had desided to just talk me through insted of emailing. No one these days does that. I mean no one. I'll only buy Eley from Bod,Well unless naked Hooters girls start selling it and only then if they bought it from Bob to start with. Donald
