The problem was that the bolt guide was installed wrong for ejecting the shells. I turned the bolt guide 180 degrees clockwise when viewed from the butt of the rifle and it worked well. If not turned this way, the shells will just lay in the rifle requiring to be removed by hand. This is nice for bench shooting. I wonder if this was designed this way.
