It was a wonderful day of shooting, with almost perfect conditions - resulting in 8 250s being shot across the 3-gun and UL matches. We were also witness to a drama of nature that an Animal Planet cinematographer would have given anything to have on film.

Congratulations to the winners of each target and the 250 shooters -- especially to Doug Shea for shooting his first IR 50/50 250.

The top thrill of the day goes to Paul Bendix, who not only shot his first 250, he followed it with a second 250, and then almost clinched a third in the UL match, ending up with a UL Agg of 749-54X.

Nature Drama:
At the end of the Sporter card, we noticed a flurry of activity down at the 200 yard end of the range. A bobcat had brought down a young fawn, holding it behind the neck in it's jaws. (We have seen this fawn and its mother roaming around the range over the past few weeks).

We were all pretty much mourning the demise of the fawn and the reality of nature, when Mom Doe comes barreling over the hill and lays a hoof into the bobcat. Bobcat decides it doesn't want to take on something this big and this mad and skedaddles!

The fawn didn't look like it was going to pull through, but after some nudging from Mom, it got up and "slowly" limped away, following Mom's direction and protection.

Best,
Michael

Michael,
Thanks for running a great match today! Congrats to Doug, Paul and also to Al for his 500-38X 2-gun agg!

The incident with the bobcat couldn't have been timed better, with almost everyone still having their spotting scopes set up. I'll remember that for the rest of my life!
Todd

Michael,

Thanks for running these matches, we always have a good time at Easthampton. Thanks for feeding us and thanks for getting the results up so fast.

Congratulations to both Doug and Paul (times 2) in joining the 250 club. A 250 is special and the first one is extra special. :)

Paul lived up to his reputation and brought the rains with him . At least it held off for most of the three gun.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Tom Miller Memorial at Salem NY next weekend.

Al

Michael,
Thanks for another good time and congratulations to Paul 749 54X..WOW..just one more point , next time Paul.
And if I remember correctly Pete shot the 250 in the 13.5 class with his sporter another WOW.
Good shooting everyone. We experienced a little of everything today a memorable for sure.
Doug

Michael,
I guess all those matches in the rain at Holbrook paid off. My first 250 took 7 years the second just 45 min later. Thanks for running the shoots at Easthampton. I love your range! I will always remember the Bobcat-Fawn- Doe Drama!

Pete, I hope you get your heavy gun shooting. Your 250 with your sporter in 13.5 match was great! Thanks for calling and scoring the Unlimited match.

Doug, Great shooting with your first 250!

Great shooting AL and Penny see you at the Tom Miller

Don Barrett Nice to meet you. Enjoyed talking and shooting with you.

I might be the only one that is looking for rain next weekend! I might have to buy one of Todd's stands!

Paul

Great shooting to everyone. Man, what a bunch of 250's! Guess I picked the right match to miss as I might have found out just how crappy a shooter I really am.

Doug and Paul, Congratulations on your first 250's. Paul, how did it feel to come that close to running the gammet with a 749 AGG. That's great! And Doug, I remember you saying you'd love to see a 20X target. Well, how did 19X's work for you?

And Al, as always, you did great!

And let's not forget about Pete. Come on, a 250 with your Sporter in the 13.5# Class? Tell me, what did you do to add enough weight?

I just wish I had been there for the Nature's Classroom event. Maybe in a couple of weeks we'll be able to convince a Moose or something to roam out across the range, not that that would be equal to what you folks witnessed.

See you all in a couple of weeks.

Dave
