Is there a way, physically, chemically, etc, to take the factory sheen off of bright, glossy anodizing?....I was just given a like-new Tasco scope and want to just knock down the gloss...It's going on a hunting rifle...

Thanks for any advice here...

If your scope is true anodizing,[not paint] the gloss finish is the result of the polishing of the scope. the black [or any other color] is the result of dye which is applyed and actually penetrates the metal after a acid bath,
therefore it cannot be changed without a complete refinish.
However you can try some of the water soluable camo sprays or camo tape found at archery stores.
Hope this has helped you.

Chuck.

Fog it

It would be easy to get some flat black spray paint or what ever color you like.

Stand back and just give it a light spray.

Use foam cutouts to cover lens and blue masking tape on other places as necessary.

That little extra paint really helps hold the scope in the rings.
