I am wanting to buy the DPMS LR-308 with 24inch bull barrel, and I am considering a Gen1 rifle. In 2014 DPMS changed to the Gen2, and the parts are not all interchangeable between the two generations. ---DPMS has physically changed the dimensions and alloys in the upper and lower receivers as well as the bolt and extractor --- to make the gun lighter and closer resemble an AR-15. Does anyone have any "hard facts" related to buying one generation over the other (relative to target shooting and performance)?
