Douglas barrels, 6,5x55 . . .

There was a lot of talk about Douglas barrels and a some questions on the old 6.5x55 a while back.

While all the big boys are at the Super Shoot, take a look at James Lorenz's Light Gun results with both at a 1,000 yard match:

(Always assuming the equipment list is right.)

Good Lord. Obviously a special rile/barrel, but still . . .

(His HG wasn't too shabby either, except for that 8 on.)

These 6.5x55's, are they the good old Swedish Mauser or is it the GWI version?

And if you know - what seperates the GWI from the Swedish Mauser?

Myself and a friend plan on doing one for next year. No Ackley, no nuthin, just a good fit chamber. Undecided on barrel make just yet, but I see no reason a bone stock Swede won't deliver the goods.

Woa ??

Leapin Lizards !!

Is that a 2.6-inch group at 1,000 yards as shown in LG4 Relay 2 ???

Following the links on the web page to IBS rules leads to a 404 error not found. IBS 1,000 yard rules ?? How big is the bullseye ?

I am in "Shock and Awe"

The bullseye -- the 10 ring -- for the 1,000 yard target is 7 inches. The X-ring is 3 inches. There has never been a 100-10x fired in any match under any of the 3 sanctioning bodies.

IIRC, for comparison, the 10-ring at 1,000 yards for highpower is 20 inches. The F-class 10 ring is somewhere in between, closer to the benchrest target.

Thanks Charles. The way I read the results as shown in the link is that he scored 50 with two (2) "X". So, that was a 5-shot group ? 5 tens with 2 in the X ???

Light Gun Match 4
Relay 2
Bench 8

And,

It was a 2.642-inch group ? Is that correct ?? At a thousand yards ?? Zeepeers deee Dow !!!
